The former is less disruptive, but save less battery and vise versa. If you select the aggressive plans, your email delivery will be affected since sync works only after a long time, so based on your requirements you can select the profile.
Unlike normal battery saving apps, this one has more options to save battery and worth a try.
Tried on Samsung Galaxy Ace. No even a little improvement… Galaxy Ace is the highest battery consumer smartphone made by Samsung! If the 2G/3G connection is started, the battery is draining in almost 1-1,5 hours!
Oh thats strange, quite a lot of users have said that this app has deeper settings to get best out of battery.
