Exchangeable image file format (Exif) is a standard that specifies the formats for images, sound, and ancillary tags used by digital cameras (including smartphones), scanners and other systems handling image and sound files recorded by digital cameras. Each image captured by cameras include the Exif information of the image, but you need a proper app to retrieve these information. ExifDataView is a freeware app from Nirsoft team which can fetch data stored inside .jpg image files generated by digital cameras. The EXIF data includes the name of the company created the camera, camera model, the date/time that the photograph was taken, Exposure Time, ISO Speed, GPS information (for digital cameras with GPS), and more.
You just need to select the image and the app will automatically fetch the data. If the image was modified using any tools like Adobe Photoshop, it is also displayed. The list of all Exif properties are displayed in the upper pane of ExifDataView. When selecting a single Exif property on the upper pane, the lower pane displays the content of the selected property as Hex Dump.
This utility works on any version of Windows, starting from Windows 2000 and up to Windows 7 and is completely portable.
