PilotEdit Lite is a freeware tool which is a powerful and advanced text and hex editor. The important feature of this tool is that it supports opening of files larger than 4GB. It offers customizable syntax and keyword highlighting, advanced search and replace operations, HEX mode, column mode, and many more features. There is also a built in FTP client, which lets you upload your files directly to your server from the application interface. You can also open files directly from the server without downloading the local copy.
PilotEdit has the ability to adjust text encoding automatically when you copy/paste between files of different encodings. The interface is tabbed and enables you to edit multiple files with ease. The application supports more than 20 files formats.
There is also option to undo/redo even after you switch between text mode and HEX mode. The tool also has file comparison and merging of text. PilotEdit Lite is altogether a fully featured text editor.
