10 Best Android Smartphones under Rs.20000

To get the proper Android experience you need to push your budget a bit, and even though there are Android phones out there that cost under Rs.10,000/-, they fall short of delivering the true Android experience. Now it isn’t mandatory to shell out wards of money to get the best flagship models in the market, especially when there are good options for less than twenty thousand rupees, with which you can get a good combination of features with the Android experience. At present, there are quite a variety of phones that bring a bundle of specifications that are useful, high on performance and are cost effective. After much market browsing, comparing and research, we assimilated the top ten phones which offer the best Android experience.

1. Samsung Galaxy S Duos

The Samsung Galaxy S duos will cost you around Rs.12000/- and bears a lot of resemblance to the big Galaxy S3. This smartphone has the typical Samsung smartphone look, and also adds in the dual SIM feature, which means you can bifurcate your personal life from your work life. With the launch of this smartphone comes another budget friendly Samsung phone called the Galaxy Y Duos Lite, which has a light price tag of Rs.6,990/- only.

The Galaxy S Duos is powered by a single-core 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and is backed by 768 MB of RAM. It comes with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Operating System along with the latest TouchWiz UI otherwise known as Nature UX which is also in use in the Galaxy S3. The Galaxy S Duos has a 5 megapixel snapper, with autofocus functions and LED flash. There is also a front facing VGA camera, making it possible to make video calls. Internally you will get 4GB of memory that can be expanded to 32GB through the microSD card slot.


2. HTC One V

The HTC One V costs aroundRs.13, 000/- and is worth every digit in that figure. The phone brings in a range of features making it completely value for money.The phone was introduced as a mid-range smartphone under the aegis of the already established One series. This HTC runs on a single core 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. There is 512 MB worth of RAM and runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating System coupled with HTC’s proprietary Sense 4.0 user interface.

HTC has given it an aluminum body, making it more tolerant to rough use, and which also gives it a premium feel. The screen is a 3.7 inch Super LCD screen with a pixel resolution of 480 x 800. There’s 4 GB of internal memory which can be expanded to 32 GB so all your storage needs are completely catered to. The camera is a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash for best snapping options. There is no secondary front facing camera however, which means you won’t enjoy the video calling option.


3. Sony Xperia Neo L

The Sony Xperia Neo L costs about Rs.12000/- and is the only smartphone by Sony at present to also include PlayStation certification to tap into the needs of gaming nerds. The previous phone that offered this was the Ericsson Xperia Play which offered PSP controls. The Sony Xperia Neo L on the other hand does not have any dedicated PSP controls. It isn’t short of feature though and comes powered by a single core 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, with a dedicated Adreno 205 graphics engine which is obviously in place to pack fine gaming experience. There is also 512 MB worth of RAM and the phone runs the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system together with Sony’s Timescape UI.

The screen is a 4 inch capacitive display that has a pixel resolution of 854 x 480. The camera is a 5MP camera with autofocus however there is no LED flash. There is a secondary camera for video chat and 1GB of built-in storage that can be increased to 32 GB through the microSD card. It also has connectivity options like 3G, Wi-Fi, USB and Bluetooth.


4. Sony Xperia Go

The Xperia Go costs about Rs.14000/- and was first unveiled along with the Xperia AcroS in May 2012. Both these phones were launched as waterproof phones with other capabilities. Being waterproof, the phone is also sturdy enough to withstand other adversities. The phone comes powered by a dual core 1 GHz processor and Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system that can be upgraded to Android 4.0 ICS. The phone has a 3.5 inch Reality Display with Mobile BRAVIA Engine for crisp images with ultra fine detailing. The phone also has ‘wet finger tracking technology’ that is very responsive and works well. The phone also has a 5 megapixel camera, and 8GB internal memory increasable to 32GB.


5. Micromax A90 Superfone

The Micromax A90 has a price tag of Rs. 12,990/- and has many takers. This phone runs on the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS and has dual SIM facilities. There is also 512 MB of RAM. The phone is powered by a dual-core 1GHz processor which works beautifully despite the good resolution 4.3 inch Super AMOLED screen with resolution of 480×800 pixels. There are two cameras; the rear is an 8MP camera, with LED flash while the front secondary camera is a 0.3 MP camera. Memory space is ample and can be extended to 32GB.


6. Sony Xperia Miro

This phone will cost you around Rs.10460/- and is another mid-range phone by Sony. This phone has an 800 MHz Qualcomm processor and works the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS.  The display on this smart phone is a 3.5 inch TFT capacitive touch screen. Internally there is 4 GB of space that can be bumped up to 32 GB. The back camera is a 5 megapixel with autofocus, LED flash and digital zoom. Sony has launched this phone with 4 color combinations; black, white with silver, black with pink, and white with gold.


7. Micromax Canvas A116 HD

The Micromax Canvas HD A116 is available for Rs.13, 999/- and has dual SIM facilities. The phone is powered by Android Jelly Bean OS. The screen is a huge 5 inch IPS LCD display with a pixel resolution of 1280x720p. Video playback is 720p HD and the handset works on a 1.2GHz quad core processor backed by 1GB RAM. The camera is an 8 MP camera, with LED flash, for detailing in images. There is a front facing camera too. Memory on the device can be expanded to 32GB via microSD card. 8. Samsung Galaxy Ace Duos S6802

This phone will cost you but a mere Rs.11, 000/- approx and is an all powerful phone with great design. This phone is powered by an832 MHz processor, backed by 512 MB worth of RAM and runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system. The phone features a 3.5 inch HVGA 320×480 pixel LCD touchscreen. The rear camera is a 5 MP Autofocus camera, and the phone lacks a front facing camera. There is 3 GB internal memory and a microSD card slot to take that memory up to 32 GB. There is 3G, HSDPA, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 3.0 support.


9. Galaxy Grand

This phone will cost you Rs. 20,000/- and runs the Android v4.1 (Jelly Bean) OS. The screen is a huge though not an AMOLED 5 inch Capacitive Touch screen. Since the resolution has been so stretched across the diaphragm of the big screen, the output is not as sharp and vibrant as other Samsung phones with similar pricing. The back camera is an 8 MP camera, while the front is a 2MP camera. Memory is 8GB which can be taken up to 64 GB. The phone also has dual SIM facility, and runs on a 1.2 GHz Dual Core Processor.


10. Xperia J

The Xperia J can be had for Rs.13, 499/- and is available in black and white. The phone has two cameras, front and back. The back camera is a 5MP camera while the front is a 0.3 MP secondary camera. The device runs the Android version 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Operating System. The screen is a well pixelated 4 inch TFT Capacitive Touchscreen having a screen resolution of 640 x 480 pixels. The device comes powered by 1 GHz Cortex-A5 Processor with memory capacity of 4GB that can be expanded to 32GB. The battery is a Li-Ion 1700 mAh battery.
