Gmail Sign In and using Multiple Accounts in same Browser

Gmail is now one of the most popular web email service from Google with millions of users. Google has been adding more and more features and also Gmail is getting more and more popular as one of the better webmail provider and it uses the Google accounts login. To sign in or login to Gmail, you can visit their login page, but if you own multiple Google Accounts, then when you switch between Google Services, you need to login and log out.

There is a newer method by Google to Sign into multiple accounts and this feature is called Multiple Sign In. Multiple Sign in as the name suggests, Google allows users to sign into multiple accounts at the same time from a single browser and you can easily switch between the accounts without having to log out and login back.

To enable multiple sign in, open Google service like Gmail, login and then click on the account picture on the top right corner of the browser. From there you can an option to add a new account (see image below).

In the next step, you can see option to Sign in to second account. Once you have logged in to second account, you can see the new account listed under the account settings. Similarly, you can add multiple accounts using the same process. When you want to switch account, simply select the account from the list (see image below).

The advantage of using this feature is that if you have enabled multiple sign in, then you can bookmark the URLs of each of the accounts and quickly log in to your added Gmail accounts easily. Another important feature of multiple sign in is that Google apps accounts are also supported, this means, you can sign into your domain email account and your regular email account in one browser.

If you choose to sign out of any account while using multiple sign-in, you will be signed out of all your accounts. To resume using multiple sign-in, you need to repeat the step above once again.

With a simple Greasemonkey script you can easily switch Google accounts, without having to login and logout each time. Once you have installed the Greasemonkey add-on for Firefox, install the user script.

Next time when you login to Gmail or any Google account, you can see a drop down on the extreme right where you can add new accounts. When you want to switch account, select the account from the drop down list and this script will automatically switch accounts without having to login and log out.
