Firefox and Win XP- Most common on Life Rocks

Advertisements

Yesterday I was going through the Google statistics for my blog and came across these statistics. Firstly this statistics covers only a small period of time (26 days, since my blog was shifted to new domain). I was eager to know which was the most commonly used OS for browsing this blog, I knew it would obviously be Win XP, still thought of going through it.

Platforms

Platform versions

Win XP takes a lion’s share among the Operating systems (Windows accounted for 87% of all OS). I was surprised to see Vista having a small share in spite of Microsoft selling millions of Vista copies and it was almost equal to the share of Win 2000. This is a short term statistics and I think in the long run, Vista would account for a larger share.

Browsers

Browser Versions

In the browser version, the results are as expected, Firefox well ahead of others. When I checked the platform and browser combo, Firefox on Win XP was the most commonly used one.

The interesting graphs you posted reveal that your blog seem to be focused on technical people and bloggers. Among this population Firefox is king.
I also note that among the highly technical people that read your blog only a handful use Vista. I think that Microsoft should improve performance, as for the masses there is no incentive to migrate.

You are lucky that majority of your users use Firefox. I had to use that theme because my previous theme was giving error with IE 6, unfortunately the dominant browser of my visitors

I am one the people who contribute to the Vista group and Firefox as well. You should be fooled by this that Firefox is the most widely used browser. FYI, Its not. Its just that people who blog and read blogs used FF most widely. I wrote an article long back, “Firefox losing share, So who uses Firefox?” Check it out.

    Mr Byte,
I know that Firefox is not the popularly used browser, its only popular among bloggers. When I said results were as expected, I meant that people who visit my blog were mainly using Firefox.
I have read your post on Firefox loosing share!

Gili and Sharique, Thanks for your comments
