CrystalDiskInfo is a free utility which can monitor hard disk and also supports S.M.A.R.T. (Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology). Once you execute the application, it shows general information about the hard disk like firmware, serial number, supported features, buffer size, rotation rate, power on count etc. It also displays the current temperature of the hard disk and also the health status based on this temperature.
From the function menu, you can change the setting for monitor interval and it can be as low as 1 min, this means that the application will refresh the setting every one min. Alternatively you can refresh manually using F5.
This utility also has provision to set Alarm from the functions menu. The alarm provides a notification from the system tray every time it monitors the hard disk.
It also has the ability to create graphs based on any of the S.M.A.R.T. parameters listed.
