As the name indicates, JR Directory Printer freeware utility allows you to print a listing of every file contained within a directory and/or sub directory (ies). The utility is a small file of around 170KB size and does not require any installation. You can directly run it from the zipped file. There are few options as well to customize the print.
To print a directory, you can either select the directory or enter the path manually. In case you are entering the path manually, the utility checks whether the folder exists and then it activates the start button. The results of print displayed in NotePad or default text editor as “dirprint.txt” file. This file is created, each time you click “Start” button.
There are 3 options for print, checking Recurse Sub-directories option will see a complete list of all sub directories and all files in all directories. The Lowercase Filename option will force all file names into lowercase regardless of the actual file name and Dos style filename option will limit the file name length within 8 chars.
The display tab next to the general one has Display Sub-directories option, will result in a list of all subdirectories contained under the selected directory along with a list of all individual files contained under the root directory. It will not list all sub directories or individual files contained in the main subdirectories. You can check/uncheck Display Size, DateTime and Attributes option to list/unlist the file size, modified date/time and file attributes (a – Archives, r – Read Only, s – System, h – Hidden).
JR Directory Printer is a very useful utility for offices where you have lots of documents to print and opening each document and giving print is a time consuming task. JR Directory Printer is a freeware and does not require any installation.
