At the start of 2014, the entry level or the budget category was a segment where OEMs were not really focused and many of the smartphones which were launching had either poor hardware or out-dated software and were never a big competition to Windows Phones. But things have changed drastically in the last 6 months or so after ASUS and Xiaomi announced their budget phones with mid range specs and half the pricing.

This created a big impact in the budget segment and now we have plethora of Android phones with great specs at an affordable pricing. Some of these phones even have 4G LTE support. So here is a list of some of the best Android smartphones you can pick below Rs 10000 in India in 2015.


1. Xiaomi Redmi Note 3G/4G

Xiaomi is one of the hugely popular companies ever since it entered India and also started flash sales of their phones. The Redmi Note comes with a 5.5 inch HP display with IPS technology and is powered by a 1.6 Ghz Snapdragon 400 processor (4G) or Octa Core processor (3G). The device has 2GB of RAM and also comes with 8GB internal storage which is expandable via microSD card. The phone also comes with a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and 1080p recording. The phone also features a 5MP camera for video calls and Selfie. It runs on Android 4.4 KitKat (4G), Android 4.2 Jelly Bean (3G) with MIUI which is a custom UI from the company. The device sports 5.5-inch HD display and is powered by Snapdragon 615 Octa Core processor and runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat with custom Cyanogen OS. On the camera end it comes with 13MP rear camera and 5MP front-facing camera. It also features 2 GB RAM and 16 GB of internal storage with expansion slot and also packs 2500mAh battery. The device is priced Rs 8999 and we feel this is a great pricing from the company considering the specs. The device also supports 4G LTE in India.


3. ASUS Zenfone 5:

The device comes with 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) capacitive multi touch display with Corning gorilla glass 3 protection and is powered by a 2 GHz dual-core Intel Atom Z2580 processor with 1GB of RAM. The device runs on Android 4.4 Jelly Bean with Zen UI and is upgradable to KitKat. The device also comes with 8MP rear camera and a 2MP front facing camera. It is powered by the 2110mAh battery and comes in 8GB and 16GB variants. The 16GB variant is priced art Rs 9999 and 8GB comes for Rs 9499.

4. Alcatel One Touch Flash:

Alcatel One Touch Flash is yet another impressive phone in terms of specs. The device comes with 5.5 inch HD IPS display and is powered by Octa Core processor with 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage. On the imaging front there is 13MP rear camera and 5MP front camera. The device runs on Android 4.4 KitKat. The phone supports dual SIM card and has 3200maH battery.


5. Lenovo A6000:

Lenovo announced this new A6000 at the CES 2015, which is a budget phone and comes with 4G LTE support launched in India to compete Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G and Yu YUREKA. Lenovo A6000 comes with 5 inch HD IPS Display (1280 X 20P) and is powered by 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor with Adreno 306 GPU. The phone has 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage which is expandable via micro SD card. On the imaging front the device sports a 8MP rear camera and 2MP front camera. Lenovo A6000 runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat) with Vibe UI. It also features dual SIM card support. There is 2300mAh battery powering the device and it is priced Rs 6999 in India. Huawei Honor Holly is the latest entry level device from the company and it comes with 5 inch HD display and is powered by 1.3Ghz MediaTek Quad core processor with 1GB RAM. One of the surprising feature of the device is that it comes with 16GB internal storage. There isn’t any other smartphone which offers 16GB below Rs 10000 price point.The phone also has 8MP rear camera with LED flash and a 2MP front facing camera for video calls. The phone runs the latest version of Android 4.4 KitKat with the Emotion UI. The phone also has dual SIM card support.

The Redmi 1S comes with a 4.7 inch HD display (1280 X 720) and is powered by Snapdragon Quad Core 400 processor with 1GB of RAM.
