Back in 2013, when Microsoft launched the final version of Windows 8, the main focus was to capture the tablet market along with the regular laptops and desktop. Microsoft further optimized it with Windows 8.1 and now we are seeing lots of new tablets running the latest OS. But unlike mainstream tablets, many Indian OEMs were also into making budget or cheap Windows 8.1 tablets.
These budget tablets compete with Android tablets and run Windows 8.1 and comes with options like USB support along with Wi-Fi and 3G options. So currently there are few good options available for Windows 8.1 tablets and here is the list of best tablets available below Rs 20000 in India.
1. Dell Venue 8 Pro Tablet:
Dell Venue 8 Pro comes with 8-inch Capacitive Touchscreen and is powered by 1.2 GHz Intel Atom Z3740D Quad Core Processor with 2GB RAM. There is also 32GB on board storage included in the device. The tablet also comes with 5MP rear camera and 1.2MP front camera for imaging. The tablet comes with Wi-Fi support and features 4830mAh battery. The tablet is priced Rs 20700 (or less).
2. HP Stream 8 Tablet:
HP Stream 8 tablet comes with 1.8 GHz Intel Atom Bay Trail-T CR Z3735G Processor with 1GB RAM. There is an 8 inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels and also features IPS technology for better viewing angles. The device comes with 5MP rear camera and 2MP front camera. There is 32GB internal storage which can also be expanded via micro SD card. The tablet is priced Rs 16990.
3. Acer Iconia W4-820 Tablet:
Acer Iconia W4-820 features a 8 inch TFT LCD 1280 x 800 pixels and is powered by 4th Gen Intel Atom Quad Core Processor with 2GB RAM. There is 64GB storage which can be expanded via microSD card. The tablet also features 5MP Rear Camera and 2MP Front Camera (with Autofocus and supports 720p 1080p at 60 FPS). The tablet is priced Rs 16999. There is also a 32GB version priced below Rs 10000.
4. Notion Ink Cain 8 Tablet:
Notion Ink Cain 8 is one of the cheapest Windows 8.1 tablet in India and comes with 8-inch IPS LCD Capacitive Touchscreen and is powered by 1.83 GHz Intel Bay Trail CR 3735F Quad Core Processor. There is MP primary and secondary camera along with Wi-Fi and 3G support. The device comes with Windows 8.1 and free one year Office 365 Subscription. The tablet is priced Rs 9999.
5. Swipe Ultimate Tablet 3G:
The new Ultimate Tab 3G comes with 10.1-inch (1280×800 pixels) IPS screen and is powered by a quad-core Intel Atom Z3735 processor. On the imaging front the device has a 5-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel front-facing camera and magnetic keyboard that has a touchpad so that it can double up as a laptop. The new tablet is priced at Rs 19999, the same priced as that of previous Wi-Fi only version.

6. Croma XT1179 Tablet:
Croma 1179 is an 8-inch tablet featuring a 1280x800p display. The tablet runs Windows 8.1 operating system and is powered by a 1.33GHz Intel Atom Processor Z3735D, and 2 GB of RAM. It sports a 2MP rear camera and a 2MP front camera and comes with 32GB internal storage which can be expanded using a microSD card. The device has a 5000mAh lithium polymer battery and supports 3G dongles in addition to support for Wi-Fi connectivity.
7. iBall Slide WQ32 Tablet:
iBall Slide WQ32 comes with a 8 inch 1280*800 IPS Display and is powered by Intel Atom Processor Z3735D up to 1.83 GHz and 2GB RAM. The device also comes with 16GB storage and supports for micro SD card upto 64GB. There is 5.0 MP AF Rear Camera and 2.0 MP Front Camera for video calling. The tablet supports Wi-Fi and 3G and also has micro HDMI port and supports USB OTG. The tablet is priced Rs 11399.
8. Toshiba WT8-B Tablet:
Toshiba WT8-B comes with a 8-inch WXGA LED backlit capacitive touchscreen with 1280 x 800 pixels resolution and is powered by Intel Atom Z3735G processor, 1GB RAM and 32GB internal memory. The tablet runs Windows 8.1 and also features 5MP primary camera with FHD video recording and 1.2MP front facing camera.
The tablet supports Wi-Fi and 3G and comes with 3788mAH lithium-ion battery. The tablet is priced Rs 12999.
9. Notion Ink Cain 10:
Notion Ink Cain 10 as the name indicates features a 10.1-inch IPS LCD Capacitive Touchscreen and runs on 1.83 GHz Intel BayTrail CR Atom Z3735F Quad Core Processor with 2GB RAM. There is 32GB storage which is expandable to 64GB via micro SD card. The tablet supports Wi-Fi and 3G Data Connectivity via 3G UltraStick (To be Purchased Separately).
