Icons are included inside Exe and DLL files when they are packed, but these cannot be directly extracted under Windows. ExtractIcons is a simple freeware tool which lets you to extract icons from exe and dll files. You can extract, save and view icons from executables (DLL files, EXE files, etc…), edit and merge icons. The interface of the tool is very simple and easy to use and extracts the icons in simple steps.
You just need to select the DLL or executable file and search for icons in the files.

Once the application searches for the icons, it displays all the icons contained in the executable and you can extract them easily. The application is supported on Windows 7 as well.
