MP3 Diags is a freeware application that allows users to identify issues with their MP3 files, fix some of the issues and make other changes, like adding track information. MP3 Diags is a powerful MP3 editor which not only allows you to diagnose and fix problems with your MP3 collection, but it also enables you to repair things like problems with the VBR header and other important aspects of your music collection. It can fix issues like incorrect track numbers or song names etc.
Some of issues which this tool can fix are;
- Broken tags / headers / audio
- Duplicate tags / headers
- Incorrect placement of tags / headers (ID3V2, ID3V1, LAME, Xing, …)
- Low quality audio
- Missing VBR header
- Missing track info / cover art
- Broken track info / cover art
- Missing normalization data
- Character encoding issues (for languages other than English)
It can fix track info, including album cover and also retrieve information from several sources: Internet, clipboard, file name, local files, and (obviously) keyboard. It can also fix files which show incorrect song duration.
Important Note: As this tool changes the settings and properties of your music collection it is always advisable to take a back up of your files before modifying it.
Overall MP3 Diags is a very powerful and useful tool to scan and repair your MP3 collection.
Tried it, MP3Val does a better job (but reports having no ID3 tags at all as a “problem.”)
This looks like something I could really use, dont know why but my MP3 files start getting errors after a few months. Cant find the reason ! Hope this helps to fix them
