There is a new edition of Google Talk, Google Talk Labs edition. The new edition has almost all features of Google Talk. Google actually made their exisiting Google Talk gadget that is powered by Flash, and wrapped it into an actual installable application. That means you get things such as group chat capabilities, tabbed conversations, nice smilies, and enjoy the integration with Flickr/YouTube. They have also included a new notifications system that will show you when you receive new Gmail emails or have an upcoming appointment on Google Calendar.
The biggest drawback of this edition is that it does not support voice chat and also file transfer. This is really disappointing stuff from Google as these of one of the most important features. With these features missing I don’t think many users would be shifting to the new version.

Then, for what have they released it?
Files cant be transferred thorugh the online client. But, FIle Transfers were allowed in the Google Talk desktop application.
Now, they’ve removed that too????
This is disgusting.
And does the new version has the “appear as invisible function”?
I hope they make some important changes to Gtalk soon.
