Google has announced the release of its first web browser called Google Chrome. Google Chrome is Google’s open source browser with innovative features making web browsing a great experience. Google Chrome has a browser window that is streamlined and simple. Google has added a comic book to show the features of Chrome. Its a 38 page book which gives complete details.

Chrome

Google Blogoscoped managed to get screenshots of the browser with all the features and here is how Chrome looks like. So far from the images Chrome definitely looks promising with a mixture of features from Mozilla Prism and Opera web browser.

Features of Google Chrome;

  • Google Chrome is open source project
  • The browser will include a JavaScript Virtual Machine called V8.
  • Google Chrome uses special tabs which are placed above the address bar unlike the ones in Firefox.
  • The browser has an address bar with auto-completion features.
  • Default home page will have speed dial features like in Opera.
  • Google Chrome has a privacy mode for browsing
  • Web apps can be launched in their own browser window without address bar and toolbar.
  • To fight malware and phishing attempts, Chrome is constantly downloading lists of harmful sites.

    Yes, thought it doesnt look really interesting as of now, I feel like Google is trying to bring a situation where life is not possible without them. May be they could have got into mobile browsers as well, that would mean a lot.

    Nice launch by google.. Though it looks cool, i dont think it can overtake the already dominating firefox and opera browsers very easily.

    I’m sure this will be attractive for the average user, but I don’t see how any power user could get used to this any time soon. I live and die by my FF extensions. I’m already going crazy without Scrollbar Anywhere, Faviconize Tab, etc.
