Gionee has launched a new midrange phone, the S6 in India. This phone was first announced in China back in November 2015. The Gionee S6 is yet another metal-clad device and comes with a 5.5 HD Super AMOLED Display with Gorilla glass 3 and a screen to body ratio of 77.8%. It has a symmetric design and cambered design.
The phone is powered by 1.3 GHz, 64 Bit Octa – Core processor coupled 3 GB RAM with 32 GB internal storage and expandable memory up to 128 GB. Here is the unboxing of the device along with our first impressions.

Design wise, the Gionee S6 is a good looking device with a metallic unibody. With the phone less than 7 mm in thickness it is great to hold and use. The rear panel has a matte finish and has camera unit along with LED flash on the top and the Gionee branding at the center. The sides of the device have a chamfered edges all round with a glossy finishing which gives a premium look.
At the bottom, it comes with USB C type port with speaker unit located on either side with a symmetrical design. The top portion houses the audio jack while the left side has the SIM tray. The power and volume keys are places on the right side. There is a slight curvature on the rear panel, but it is hardly noticeable. The front panel has 5.5 inch HD display, front camera, sensors and three capacitive buttons which are not backlit.
Overall, the design is one of the strong points of the Gionee S6 and it definitely looks good.
The phone comes with a 5.5 inch HD SUPER AMOLED display with Gorilla glass 3 and a screen to body ratio of 77.8%. While we are used to seeing Full HD displays at this price point, Gionee is still stuck at HD displays. But having said that the display is pretty decent with good colors and viewing angles. The touch response is also quite good on the display.
The phone also comes with 32 GB internal storage, and you can expand the storage up to 128GB using SD card. The storage available in the first boot is around 24GB. The battery capacity on the device is 3150mAh
On the imaging front, the phone comes with 13 MP+ PDAF rear camera alongside a 5.0 MP front camera. The advanced camera functions such as 0.1 Sec Focus timing, Special GIF Maker, Image Plus for beautification and Eraser allows users to get better pictures. The phone comes with Amigo 3.1 based on Android 5.1. The S6 is equipped with a humanized Type-C reversible plug-in design. The phone is powered by MediaTek Octa-core chipset clocked at 1.3Ghz coupled with 3GB of RAM. The performance in the first usage was quite good with the Amigo UI 3.1. On the connectivity front, the phone comes with 4G LTE + VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB C type. The Gionee S6 will be available in India at MOP Rs 19,999/- and will be exclusive to Flipkart.
