MIUI was first announced in 2010 and in just 5 years, MIUI has grown to over 150 million users in over 156 countries and regions. MIUI 7 comes with host of new features and improvements to overall performance and also changes to looks. So here are the new features in MIUI 7.

1. New System Design:

While MIUI is one of the highly customizable UI with tons of themes, with MIUI 7 the company is adding four new system designs to suit your taste.

These are Rose, Pink Blush, Ocean Breeze and high life. These themes cater to wide range of audience and you can always go back to default theme. The company also announced the new theme creator called MUSE. MUSE allows you to create Themes with rich animations and dynamic content easily without complex coding.

The ROM also comes with 10 pre-set HD wallpapers available on Daily Lock screen for rotation. A wider selection is available on the International wallpaper market and this is currently limited to India.

2. Performance and Battery Life:

Two of the most important feature requests were for performance and battery life improvement. MIUI 7 optimized system app start up time vastly. MIUI 7 optimizes system response time by loading data and app animation in parallel. That’s a 30% speed increase that’s immediately noticeable, and surprisingly fast.

So overall, there is 30% improvement in performance with MIUI 7.

There is also XXL Text on MIUI 7, format that adjusts conversation layouts, line breaks to provide greater readability, unlike those found in other interfaces.

Apart from these options, the new ROM will be able to group all your baby photos into an album and use this album as lock screen wallpaper.

3. Security:

If your child is using your phone and messing up with things, there is new Child Mode. You can now childproof your phone with Child Mode, which limits access to personal information like emails and messages, while keeping restless kids entertained with apps that you approve and manage in Settings.
