After announcing Lumia 640 and Lumia 640XL at the Mobile World Congress 2015, Microsoft announced yet another mid range Lumia device, the Lumia 540 Dual SIM which is probably the successor of Lumia 535. The phone comes with upgraded specs when compared to the Lumia 535. The Lumia 540 features a 5 inch HD display and is powered by Snapdragon 200 Quad core processor with 1GB RAM and there is 8GB internal storage. The phone runs latest Windows Phone 8.1 update 2.

There is also an upgraded 8MP rear camera with LED flash and a front facing 5MP camera. Here is the unboxing and the first impressions of the device.

Design wise the device looks a lot like the Lumia 640 which we reviewed last month. The company has not changed the design language of Lumia series and it comes with power and volume keys on the right side, the 3.5mm audio jack sits on the top and the micro USB is at the bottom. The rear panel has a matte finish (for black variant) and slightly curved towards the edges to give a better grip on the device.

The rear panel houses the 8MP camera with flash, Microsoft logo and also speaker located at the bottom. The front panel has the 5 inch HD display, 5MP camera, usual set of sensors. The device does not have capacitive buttons instead they are on screen similar to Lumia 640 and Lumia 730.

The phone comes with a 5 inch HD display with a resolution of 1280 X 720p and has IPS LCD panel. The touch response is very good and so are the viewing angles. There isn’t any change in colors when he display is tilted. The phone comes with dual SIM card and has 3G support. The phone also comes with 8GB internal storage which is expandable to 128GB via micro SD card.

The phone is powered by Quad core Snapdragon 200 processor with 1GB RAM. The performance was good on the device and did not have any lags in the first use. There is also 2200mAh battery included in the device which is removable similar to other mid range Lumia devices.

The device is priced Rs 10199 and available online as well as in retail stores. We will have the detailed review coming up on our blog soon, meanwhile do check out our YouTube channel for more videos on this device.
