If you have used Xiaomi smartphones, you must be knowing that the company has a custom ROM for their devices based on Android and it is one of the best custom ROMs for Android. Xiaomi calls the UI on their smartphones as MIUI and the latest version available for flagship device is MIUI v6. Last week the company announced their new flagship device in the phablet category, the Xiaomi Note which comes with 5.7 inch Full HD display. This phone also runs MIUI v6 and comes with new features.

While MIUI6 is already available on Xiaomi Mi4, the device has only a 5 inch display where as Note has a 5.7 inch. So in order to make use of the bigger display, the company has improved MIUI 6 and has better features. It is estimated that MIUI has 85 million users world wide.

So here are the new features in MIUI 6 for large displays

1. Displays 25% more content for larger Screens:

If both 5 inch and 5.7 shows the same amount of content, there is literally no point in using a bigger display. MIUI 6 on Xiaomi Note shows 25% more content that Mi4 which has a 5 inch display. So this means, the OS is making use of the extra size of the display to show more content, especially when you are reading from browser or e-books. You can see the image below, both the phone has the same content, but Xiaomi Note with bigger display shows more.

2. Display Content Bigger (for all Apps)

For some Android systems, changing system fonts will only change the font of system built-in apps, not fonts of the third party installed apps. But in MIUI 6 for Xiaomi Note, changing system fonts will change fonts of all apps, no matter they’re built-in or third party ones. This means if you want bigger fonts, just increase the size at one place and it will be in effect on all apps and system settings.

3. One Handed Mode:

This feature is already available in quite a lot of Android phones including Samsung’s Note series. With MIUI 6 on Xiaomi Note, you can get the same feature. The one-handed mode in MIUI 6 allows you to use your phone with one hand as conveniently as using two hands.

To enable this feature, you just need to swipe left or right from Home button. For Mi Note, there are 3 screen sizes you can choose from for one-handed mode.
