Finally the wait is over, the Official Facebook app for Windows 8 is here. Windows 8.1 is releasing today and Facebook has just released the new app for Windows 8. The app is pretty slick and gets all the features you would like to see in a Facebook app, it comes with status update, add photos and videos and also the ability to check into places, all in a neat and clean interface.
There are two sidebars, one for the Facebook options and second for the chat and is similar to the web interface. Facebook has added the friend request, inbox, and notification counters to the very top right with touch-friendly buttons similar to the web interface.
When you click status or photos, a small window pops up and you can update your status from there. Facebook has also built in Share Charm support, which allows users to automatically attach the photo you’re viewing in the app into an Email. And like any other Windows 8.1 app, there’s also built-in search functionality which is again useful feature to have.

Although the app comes with snap view it is limited to minimum of 40% of the screen space and there is also lot of white space when viewing on large screen monitors, similar to the official Twitter app for Windows 8. But overall, we liked the app as it is polished and pretty fast.
The app is compatible only with Windows 8.1 RTM.
