gMaps (Google Maps) for Windows 8

With the release of Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8, Google had clarified that they will not be delivering any Google services based apps for Windows 8 or WP8. We had covered some of the alternatives available for Google products on Windows Phone 8. Maps are used by all of us for navigation and many other purposes. If you are using Windows 8 on a tablet, then you might want to use maps while travelling. Although there is Bing Maps, it might not be able to replace Google Maps in terms of functionality.

gMaps is an excellent app for Windows 8 which brings in the Google Maps functionality to Windows 8.

You can search for landmark, venues or stores using powerful local search. You can easily use your voice to search (use the microphone button next to the search textbox)

Directions

You can get directions from/to your location or between two coordinates/addresses. Different travel modes like ‘Driving’, ‘Cycling’, ‘Walking’ or ‘Public transit’ are supported. When a route is built, you can browse the route steps or select an alternate route.

Routes

gMaps with Street View lets you explore places around the world through 360-degree, panoramic, and street-level imagery. You can change your position and rotate right in street view mode.
