How to Get More Comments on your Blog- Secrets Revealed
Mani from DailySeoBlog did a review of this blog and one of the things he mentioned was that this blog gets an average of 20 comments per post. Many of my friends also asked me how do I manage to get lot of comments on my blog. Earlier I had written an article on How to increase comments on your blog. There I had mentioned about plugins and other methods to increase. But here I reveal the secrets to get more comments on your blog.
- Good Content: First and most important thing is the content. We all agree to the point- “Content is the King” and this is one of the governing factors to get comments. Past research has shown me that if your blog on latest news, then it will attract only few comments as many other blogs would have already blogged it, unless you are the first one to break the news. Instead if you write a tutorial, tips or tricks, most of the time you will be unique in your content and this really helps in getting more comments.
- Give good attention and Focus to Posts: Having said content is the king, next thing is to give attention and focus to your killer posts. Here the posting frequency comes into light. If you blog about tips and tweaks and write over 3-4 posts a day, then there are chances that 1 or 2 of your posts might be missed by readers. This blog has a posting frequency of 1 post per day and this really helps me in getting more comments. Most of the time its observed that readers generally comment on your first post. If you blog on tips and tweaks, I would suggest to have a posting frequency of 1-2 posts a day or two. You can use the time stamp feature of Wordpress to organize your posts.
- Read other Blogs: Its important that others know your presence in blogsphere and for this you need to read other blogs with similar contents and also find out new blogs. I make sure that I discover and read a new blog every day or two.
- Comment on Blogs: This is really an important factor in getting comments. Not only you read other blogs, you also need to comment on other blogs and express your opinions. But do not spam other blogs by commenting, post only valuable comments. This will make others also comment on your blog and once you have a good number of comments, any new visitor will get a good impression of the blog and this in turn helps in increasing the subscriber count also.

Other point to consider is the post should appeal your readers. I might like to post on certain topics, but it has always fancied me how some post get more comments than others. So blog about what your readers like.

Ask for comments. As you did at the end of this post…
“If you liked to add any more points, please share it in comments section.”
That will attract more comments.
Sep 14th, 2007 at 9:41 pm
The content is key as well.. Going off topic may not attract comments most of the time, however may work sometimes if the post is useful or interesting!
Good list Nirmal!

I was just about to say what Binny said, but I’ll elaborate a little. Not only should you ask for comments, but you can also open a topic up for debate in some cases. If it’s controversial enough, you can have a hot debate going in your comments section and it really does generate extra traffic.

Sep 18th, 2007 at 4:29 pm
great list.
Another thing is to connect with your network - I mean people who blog on related topics. This was one thing i had been missing.Though i am a tech blogger from India,i never networked with the indian bloggers. This is something i am doing right now.
Can someone tell me how could I get into that feedburner network?
Sep 18th, 2007 at 10:47 pm
I am a regular reader of Brown Baron and thats why i m here and i see you have quite a valid point about getting traffic as well as getting noticed.
One thing however is that content always scores over other things.U may get visitors but if you don’t have quality content nobody will stay back on
Cheers
Abhishek

@Indyank,
Its necessary to have proper interaction with other bloggers to get noticed. Good that you have stared interacting. To join to network, you need to contact Quickonlinetip for an invite, the criteria is you need to be an Indian tech blogger with more than 100 subscribers.

I truly agree with the last point. Not just attracts comments, but attracts traffic from other bloggers, who will read and probably comment as well!
