Xiaomi has announced their latest budget smartphone in India, the Redmi 5. Xiaomi Redmi 5 is the successor of hugely popular smartphone from 2017, the Redmi 4. The Redmi 5 comes with upgraded design and is the slimmest Redmi phone at 7.7mm. The device also packs 18:9 display along with Snapdragon 450 processor. So here are the 5 things to know about the new Redmi 5.

1. 18:9 Display:

One of the hottest trends of 2017 was the 18:9 display and almost all brands embraced it. Xiaomi’s first 18:9 display smartphone in India was the Redmi Note 5 Pro and now the company has come with a smaller display but with 18:9 aspect ratio. The Redmi 5 has 5.7 inch HD+ display with 1440 X 720p display.

2. Snapdragon 450:

Snapdragon 450 is the latest chipset in the 4XX series and the chipset has good overall performance. In terms of benchmark scores and overall performance levels, the SD450 is closer to Snapdragon 625 which is one of the favorite mid-range chipsets. So with SD450, you can expect good overall performance from Redmi 5.

3. 3300mAh Battery:

While the Redmi 4 came with 4100mAh battery, Redmi 5 packs a 3300mAh battery. Even though the battery capacity has been reduced, you can still get good battery life with the power-efficient 14nm FinFET Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 chipset. So expect a day-long battery life from Redmi 5.

4. Improved Cameras:

Redmi 5 comes with a rear camera sporting a large 1.25?m-pixel sensor and this helps in bringing more light to the sensor giving better image quality even in situations when lighting conditions are not perfect.

Xiaomi has also added a front facing flash for the 5MP camera to get better selfies in low light conditions.

5. Variants and Pricing:

Redmi 5 will be available in a weekly sale starting 20th March across Mi.com, Amazon and Mi Home stores for 7,999 INR, 8,999 INR and 10,999 INR for the 2GB + 16GB, 3GB + 32GB and 4GB + 64GB variants respectively.
