Xiaomi has announced the new budget device in India, the Redmi 4A. While the Redmi 3s was the cheapest Redmi device in India till date, the company has announced the new budget device for Rs 5999. The Redmi 4A brings a good hardware to this price segment and it features 5 inch HD display and is powered by Snapdragon 425 Quad-core processor with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage. It also packs a 13MP camera and 5MP front camera.

So if you are planning to buy the device, here are 6 important things to know about the phone.

1. Made in India:

Xiaomi Redmi 4A is entirely made in India phone under the Govt of India initiative and this is made out of FoxConn factory in Telangana. Xiaomi has also launched a new factory, the second one in India to make phones locally which makes it easier for the company and also will reduce the cost.

2. Colors:

Redmi 4A comes in three colors- grey, gold and rose gold variants. For the first time in India Xiaomi has introduced the Rose gold color for its smartphone. The Rose gold variant of Redmi 4A looks quite good and will go on sale on April 6th on Mi.com and Amazon.in. The price of this variant remains the same as other variants.

3. Availability:

The device goes on sale from March 24rd on Mi.com and Amazon.in and it will be available online only and there will be one open sale every week similar to Redmi Note 4. We are not sure if the company has plans to make this device available offline similar to Redmi Note 4.

4. Camera:

A lot of buyers will be interested in the camera even in the budget segment. The Redmi 4A comes with a 13MP rear camera with F/2.2, LED flash and also 5MP front camera for selfies. The camera on the Redmi 4A is a good performer in day light conditions and it won’t disappoint most users and the company has done a good job in providing a good camera even in the budget segment.

The phone comes with a 3100mAh battery and the battery performance is really good. With moderate usage, you can easily get more than a day of battery life with the phone and even with heavy usage, you are sure to get a day. Unfortunately, there is no fast charging on the device which is not surprising considering the price segment.

6. IR Blaster:

Xiaomi Redmi 4A is probably the only device in this segment to provide an IR blaster. Using the IR blaster, you can use the device as a universal remote for your TV, A/C, set-top boxes and more. The Mi Remote app allows you to use the device for controlling devices.
