Samsung had launched the mid-range devices, the Galaxy J5 and J7 back in July 2015 and were pretty successful models in India. Now the company has launched the upgraded versions of these two devices, the Galaxy J5 (2016) and Galaxy J7 (2016) in India.

One of the major changes to these devices is in the design aspect and now both the phones flaunt metal body.

The Samsung Galaxy J7 comes with a 5.5 inch Full HD SUPER AMOLED display replacing the HD display on the earlier model. Under the hood, the device is powered by an Octa-Core Exynos 7870 processor clocked at 1.6GHz coupled with 3GB of RAM.

The internal storage remains the same at 16GB which is expandable via micro SD card to 128GB. There will be dual SIM card and 4G LTE support on these devices. On the imaging front, the J7 comes with a 13MP rear camera with LED flash, f/1.9 aperture, and a 5MP front-facing camera with LED flash, 120-degree wide-angle lens.

The phone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop with 3300mah massive battery.

Flipkart says only India SIMs will work on these machines. Not good for international travelers.

I think it is only for activation. Once activated with an Indian SIM, you can use any SIM card.
