Few days back Samsung announced two mid-range selfie focused smartphones, the Samsung Galaxy J5 and J7. These phones have pretty good specs for the mid-range segment and are exclusive to Flipkart. We already did the review of Samsung Galaxy J5 and today we have the Galaxy J7. The Galaxy J7 features a 5.5 inch HD AMOLED panel (1280 X 720p) and is powered by Exynos Octa core processor 64 bit processor with 1.5GB RAM. It also comes with 16GB internal storage which is expandable.

It runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop and has a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and f/1.9 aperture. There is also a front facing 5MP camera with flash for selfies. The phone comes with 3000mAh battery and supports 4G LTE in India. Here is the unboxing and first impressions of the device.

Design-wise, the Samsung Galaxy J7 is a fairly good looking device especially the gold variant, but it resembles just like any other Galaxy smartphone and it looks exactly like the J5. The sides of the device is curved and so are the 4 edges making it look good. There is chrome finishing on the edges, but they are not made of metal. The bottom panel has the micro USB charging slot, mic and also the 3.5mm audio jack. But the overall build quality isn’t inspiring especially the fake chrome finishing looks cheap quality.

The front panel has three buttons including the physical home button, front camera with LED flash and 5.5 inch AMOLED HD display. The rear panel has the 13MP camera, Samsung logo and the speaker. The finishing looks slightly better than the J5 overall.

The 5.5 inch AMOLED HD display looks pretty good and the colors are vivid. The viewing angles are also very good with no change in colors when you tilt the display. The touch response was very good. Overall, we liked the display on the J7 in the initial use. The phone comes with dual SIM card and has 4G LTE support. The phone also comes with 16GB internal storage which is expandable via micro SD card. The storage available in the first boot is around 11.64GB.

In the initial usage, the performance was good and there was no lag. It is powered by the 1.5Ghz Exynos Octa Core, the 64-bit processor, with 1.5GB of RAM. The software is the custom UI (Touchwiz) from Samsung on top of Android 5.1 Lollipop. The 13MP camera also features good amount of options and modes. We will have the detailed camera review of the phone, so stay tuned!

The device is priced Rs 14999 and available on Flipkart. We will have the detailed review coming up on our blog soon, meanwhile do check out our YouTube channel for more videos on this device.
