Along with the announcement of Gionee’s flagship device, the Elife E8, the company also announced the next generation device in the Marathon series. Gionee Marathon M5 is the latest phone in the Marathon series and the successor of Marathon M3 (review). The Marathon M5 as the name indicates comes with a massive 6020mAh battery and the most important feature of the device.
The dual battery on the Marathon M5 features 3010mAh battery each. Gionee claims that this is the highest capacity battery on any smartphone available right now.
The phone comes with 5.5 inch HD AMOLED display which has a resolution of 1280 X 720P and is powered by a Quad core chipset with 2GB RAM. This is again better than the Marathon M3 which featured 1GB RAM. There is also 16GB internal storage along with micro SD card support.
Gionee has managed to keep the thickness of the device to 8.5mm in spite of having a mammoth 6020mAh battery. The phone also comes with 13MP rear camera and 5MP front camera for selfies and video calls.
The phont comes with dual SIM support and 4G LTE for both SIMs and comes in black, white and gold colors. The M5 will be launching on 25 June at a price of RMB 2299 which is approx Rs 24000. The device will be coming to India as well.
