LG Announces G Flex 2, 5.5 inch Full HD Display and Snapdragon 810 Processor

At the CES 2015, LG has announced the successor G Flex, the curved smartphone, G Flex 2. LG G Flex 2 comes with 5.5 inch Full HD (1080P) P-OLED display and is powered by Snapdragon 810 processor. The Snapdragon 810 is a 64bit processor with 2.0Ghz Octa core CPU. The smartphone has two different storage capacities (16 or 32GB), and includes either 2 or 3GB of RAM depending on availability and region just like the LG G3. Like some variants of the LG G3, the G Flex 2 has a microSD card slot that’s expandable up to 2TB.

On the camera front, the LG G Flex 2 sports a 13MP camera with laser auto focus just like the G3. There is also a 2.1-megapixel front-facing shooter.

The G Flex 2 is is smaller and 15 percent lighter than G Flex. The phone has a 23-degree arc, which lends to a more immersive viewing experience. The G Flex 2 is designed to withstand a certain degree of abuse. It can flex straight when you push or step on the handset with the display facing downward. LG has also improved on the slick protective coating that’s on the back of the phone, so that it can mend everyday scuffs and scratches faster.

There is also Gorilla Glass protection for the display for added durability.

  • Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth Smart Ready (Apt-X) 4.1, NFC, SlimPort, A-GPS, GLONASS and USB 2.0
  • 4G LTE support

Apart from company’s KnockOn and KnockCode gestures, the G Flex 2 will also have GlanceView. GlanceView allows you to quickly check the time, date and any missed notifications, without having to wake up the handset and can be activated by a downward swipe from the top of the screen.

Price and Availability:

LG G Flex 2 will be available in two colors, the Platinum Silver and Flamenco Red color. Initially the device will go on sale in South Korea and this will happen by the end of January and will launch across the globe soon after. There is no mention on the pricing as of now, but expect this to cost more than LG G3.
