At the launch of Vivo X5Max in India, Vivo also showcased few other devices and one of them was the mid range Vivo X3S. We covered the hands on of Vivo XShot 4G and Vivo X5Max and here is the quick hands on with Vivo X3S. The device comes with a 5 inch HD display(1280 X720P) and is powered by 1.7Ghz Octa Core processor from MediaTek with 1GB RAM. This is the same Octa core processor powering most of the mid range smartphones.

There is 16GB internal storage, but does not feature an expandable storage. The phone has specs very similar to Gionee Elife S5.1 which was launched recently in India. The phone runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean which is almost three generations old. There is the custom UI called Fun Touch OS version 1.2 on top of Android which brings in additional features to the phone.

The phone also ships with a 13MP rear camera with flash and a front 5MP camera. The phone supports dual SIM cards (Micro + Nano). The device is also slim at 5.95mm and has a great build quality. There is a 2000mAh battery powering the device.

Company has also focused on better music experience on the device by adding a Hi-Fi DAC Chip ES9018 MK2 provided by ESS Corp and this produces sound with lesser distortion and higher quality. Even though the phone runs Android 4.2 it has a custom UI called Fun Touch OS version 1.2. The UI has lot of similarities with iOS8 including the quick toggle which can be pulled from the bottom of the screen. The UI has multiple home screen like MIUI and is feature rich. It does come loaded with lots of tools and popular apps.

Here is a quick hands on video of the device.

There is no mention on the availability of this device as of now and also the pricing. The estimated pricing in India will be around the Rs 22000 – 25000 in India as per the company officials, which we feel is over priced considering the competition. The only additional feature this phone offers compared to Gionee Elife S5.1 is the camera. The Elife S5.1 is selling in India for Rs 18999.
