Xiaomi Redmi Note Launched in India for Rs 8999

Xiaomi entered Indian mobile phone market in July with the launch of Xiaomi Mi3 and within a month they launched the budget Redmi 1S (review) which was an instant hit in India. Redmi 1S and Mi3 were sold exclusively on Flipkart and now the company has launched their third phone in India, the Redmi Note.

The device comes with a 5.5 inch HP display with IPS technology and is powered by a 1.7Ghz Octa Core processor with Mali 450GPU. The device has 2GB of RAM and also comes with 8GB internal storage which is expandable to 32GB via microSD card. The phone also comes with a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and 1080p recording. The phone also features a 5MP camera for video calls and Selfie. It runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with MIUI which is a custom UI from the company. The phone is powered by a 3200mAh battery.

The company has also launched a 4G LTE variant which is specifically designed for India. The 4G version is powered by Snapdragon 400 Processor with 2GB RAM and has Android 4.4 KitKat with Single SIM, rest all specs remain the same.

The phone will compete with other devices like ASUS Zenfone 5 and Moto G although spec wise, the Redmi Note is impressive.

  • 3G (TD-SCDMA), WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS
  • Sensors- Proximity, Light Sensor, Accelerometer, Gyroscope, Compass
  • 3200 mAh battery

Price and Availability:

Back in July, the device was announced with a price of Rs 9999, but now the company has slashed the pricing to Rs 8999 and will be available exclusive to Flipkart starting Dec 2nd. The registrations for the sale starts on 25th November. The 4G version will launch later in December for a price of Rs 9999 and will also be sold via Airtel stores.

      Redmi Note 4g LTE is not octa core, it is Quad core Snapdragon 400 and the launch will happen sometime late December.
