With Xiaomi and ASUS launching some great phones below the Rs 10000 range in India, the competition in the budget segment has spiced up. With every other phone manufacturer trying to capitalize on this segment, Huawei India has also announced a new budget smartphone, the Honor Holly. Huawei already launched its flagship phone few weeks back in India.

Now they have launched the budget smartphone Honor Holly with impressive specs for a phone in this price point. The device sports a 5 inch HD display and comes with 1.3GHz Quad Core MediaTek processor with 1GB RAM. The phone also comes with 16gB internal storage and is also expandable via microSD card. Similar to any other device, the phone supports dual SIM cards.

So here it the unboxing of the device along with first impressions.

Here is the unboxing video.

Inside the box, you have the charger, USB cable, warranty and manuals along with the device.

The device looks pretty impressive in hand even though it is a 5 inch device.

The back cover is glossy and has pretty decent quality although we would have a better panel with matte finish like the ASUS Zenfone 4 and Redmi 1S.

The phone has volume and power buttons on the right side, 3.5mm audio jack on the top and microUSB charging slot at the bottom. The rear panel has the 8MP camera with flash along with Honor branding and the speakers located at the bottom.

The display look pretty vibrant and the colors are really good. The viewing angles are also pretty decent. The front panel has the three capacitive touch buttons. Above the display, you have the front camera and the earpiece.

The phone runs Android KitKat 4.4.2 and has Emotion UI 2.3 on top of it. It is a custom UI from the company on top of Android. The UI feels pretty smooth and does not have any lag. We will have the detailed review of the device soon. You can also subscribe to our YouTube channel for latest videos on the device.

    Hi Nirmal !

great review. Below is my user experience.

I received the phone a day after Diwali. Kudos to Flipkart for making it possible as they had mentioned they would send it by Nov. 7th.

Now on to review : HONOR HOLLY (It comes from an iPhone 5 user for years)

I bought this phone for my dad who has never used a touch phone nor has he ever been introduced to the word internet. Under my impression Android has always been confusing but Kit Kat 4.4.2 supported with Huawei emotion interface makes it a cake walk for any beginner to understand a touch phone.

Design: By all means Huawei Honor Holly is 5 star for its design. By no angle does it look a phone worth 6999. Its sleek, very light weight, white glossy back makes the phone look classy. Holly is slimmest among all the phone available at the same price.

SCREEN: 5Inch screen, Amazing display, when it mentions 16 million colors, it means it. The phone just looks amazing. Touch is supreme matching to the most expensive phones in the world.

STORAGE: Its massive 16 GB internal memory, for anyone who is not a movie or song junkie you dont need more.

INTERNET: It was very easy to detect and connect to Wifi / The place where there is slow speed the phone does take time to load up things. But all looks great on high speed internet areas and wifi. Phone also supports Hotspot / GPS Navigation enabling. In all great experience.

BATTERY: It comes with a massive removable battery. The life looks great for a phone loaded with so many feature. Problem is in charging the phone. It charges very very slowly. So one might have to wait for ages for it to charge to hundred percent. (May thats a problem in my phone only)

CAMERA : Features I have never seen in any phone were there in here is the Camera section of this phone.

Face Detection and clearing : This feature detects your face and clears all wrinkles / blck spots etc. Automatically. You have many color and cropping postioning features.

Panorama Pictures can be taken Horizontally and Vertically as well. (UNIQUE from many high class camera phones)

Also has a wonderful live picture option.

Sharing of pics too can be done in all possible platforms directly after clicking the pic.

picture quality is good. However with flash i saw some white tones coming in. But tht is not a big demerit.

SOUND : Its a flaw huawei needs to work on. The phones audio is low. I would rate it 2.5 out of 5 for this demerit. For those who can live with low volume outputs and can use speakers / earphones this is one area you will have to live with.

    PROS :

    – Great Design (Best in Class)
    – Huge Internal Memory
    – Good 8 MB camera – HD Recording – Cool auto Edit & Edit features.
    – KITKAT & Huawei Emotion Interface gells well.
    – Display and touch is great. 5″ Screen
    – 1 Ghz processor – 16 GB internaly Memory
    – Good Battery Back Up
    – Very Light weight.

    CONS :

    – Sound Output weak.
    – No Covers – Screen Guards available yet.
    – Slow Charging. 0 to 100% in 3-4 Hours. Smtimes more.

In all its a wonderful phone. So if you can live with low sound and economical battery usage and charge it overnight. Its the best bet in town.

COMPARISONS I MADE BEFORE MY PURCHASE :

    I Compared it with :
Moto e – Looks ugly / no flash / small screen comes with KitKat – 4 Gb internal memory. INR 700 cheaper that Huawei Honor Holly

Xiome RedMi : Was not available. Reviews are very very bad. Like Phone heats up a lot. The Screen is smaller / Its cheaper than Holly but does not have a massive 16 GB Internal Memory.

Karbonn Titanium s5 : Old Android version / Old phone launched long time ago. Hence being sold at lower price. Holly sounded more excting with features and fully loaded with latest features. Was a 1000 rs expensive than Holly.

Micromax Unite: Low memory. Price was almost same. Less internal memory.

SO GUYS YOU CAN TAKE THE PLUNGE AND WAIT FOR THIS AWESOMENESS
