Early this week Google had announced the Android One in India and also launched the first set of devices in the Android One program. There were three new devices announced, one each from Micromax, Spice and Karbonn. We have already covered in detail about the Android One program where Google has set the minimum required specs for the device along with all future updates directly from Google.

Micromax Canvas A1 is the company’s first device running Android One. It comes with a 4.5 inch display with a FWVGA resolution (480 X 854pixels) and is powered by a 1.3Ghz Quad core Mediatek processor with 1GB of RAM. The phone also comes with 4GB internal storage and is expandable via micro SD card. There is also 5MP rear camera with LED flash and a front facing 2MP camera. The phone runs Android KitKat 4.4.

So here is the unboxing of the device along with our first impressions.

Included in the box are, the phone (Canvas A1), battery (1700mAh), earphones, charger+ USB cable and also screen guard. The box packing is very similar to other Micromax phones.

Canvas A1 looks very similar to any other budget smartphone from the front and has the 2MP camera above the display along with usual set of sensors and notification light. Below, you can see the three on screen touch buttons.

The rear panel is removable and you can insert the dual SIM card along with microSD. The rear panel houses the 5MP camera and LED flash along with Micromax and Android One logo. The speakers are located below the Android One logo.

The display on the device is a 4.5inch FWGA and the display quality is pretty decent. The viewing angles are not that great, but the overall colors are pretty good.
