Micromax had announced the second phone in the Canvas Fire series, the Canvas Fire 2 A 104 couple of weeks back. The device is an entry level phone which competes with Moto E (Review), ASUS Zenfone 4 (Review) and also company’s own Unite 2 (Review). The phone comes with a 4.5 inch FWVGA display with 854×480 pixels and is powered by 1.3Ghz Quad core MediaTek processor with 1GB RAM.

The device also comes with 4GB of internal storage similar to competition and this is expandable to 32GB via MicroSD card. The phone also has 5MP rear camera with LED flash and 0.3MP front facing camera for selfies and video calls. We unbox the retail unit and here are our impressions.

Here is the unboxing video:

In the box, you have the device, charger, USB cable, earphones, screen guard and also manuals and warranty information. First thing that comes to mind when you see the device is the design. While most of the entry level Micromax phones have similar design, Canvas Fire 2 stands out with a design which is similar to Canvas Knight (Review).

The device has the normal set of hardware buttons, the power and volume keys being on the right side. The 3.5mm audio jack and micro USB slots are at the top. The device has a beautiful gold finish around the bezel which does give it a premium feel for a device in the price point.

One of the specialities of the device is that it comes with dual front speakers, one on the top of the display and the second one below the capacitive touch buttons. The sound quality of the speakers is good.

The back panel houses the 5MP camera with LED flash and the back panel has a finish. The back panel feels like glass even though its made of plastics.

Canvas Fire 2 (8)

The weight of the device is on a higher side when compared to the competition. The display on the device is just FWVGA, but good improvement when compared to the 4.5 inch display on the Unite 2. The brightness levels are good and the colors are also great. We will have the detailed review of the device soon. So stay tuned.
