Back in July, ASUS India announced the launch of three new Zenfones, the Zenfone 4, 5 and 6. We already done the detailed review of Zenfone 4 which is an entry level device and competes with Moto E and Micromax Unite 2. Zenfone 5 is a mid range devcie which comes with impressive specs for its price. It has a 5 inch HD display with 1280 X 720p resolution and is powered by a 2Ghz Dual Core Intel Atom processor coupled with 2GB RAM.

The phone also comes with 8MP camera with LED flash and 2MP front camera. The storage on the device is at 8GB which is further expandable to 32GB via microSD card. The phone runs on Android v4.3 (Jelly Bean) which is upgradable to v4.4.2 (KitKat). The most important aspect of the device is the Zen UI which is highly responsive and feature rich.

Today, we unbox the ASUS Zenfone 5 and see how the device looks like.

The box comes with earphones, USB cable and the charger along with the manuals and warranty information. ASUS had not provided the earphones in Zenfone 4, but they are available in Zenfone 5.

The device has good build quality and comes with good overall fit and finish. The device is also pretty good to hold with the curved back panel which has a matte finish.

The front panel houses the earpiece and the front camera above the display. The three capacitive touch buttons are located below the display and there is a pattern available below it similar to Zenfone 4.

The back panel which is removable has the 8MP camera with LED flash and the ASUS branding. The battery on the device is not removable, very similar to Moto G.

The right side houses the power and volume keys and the micro USB charging slot is located at the bottom.

Overall, the phone feels solid in hands even though it is a 5 inch device. It is probably the only phone to come with 2GB of RAM below Rs 10000 in India.

Nice review.. Really a good package.. Would have went for it if any of these features present..

    1. Full HD Display with higher PPI
    or
    2. A better, possibly a 13 MP Camera !!!
