Gionee had launched the slimmest phone in the world, the Gionee Elife S5.5 at the Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona and also announced it in India back in March. We had covered the hands on of the device from the launch in India and we felt this device had a great potential with the excellent build quality, fit and finish.

The device sports a 5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD Super AMOLED touch screen display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and powered by a 1.7 GHz Octa-core MediaTek MT6592 processor and runs on Android 4.2 with Amigo 2.0 UI on top.The phone comes with a 13-megapixel auto focus rear camera with stacked Sony sensor, LED flash. There is also a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with 95 degree wide-angle lens. It has 2GB RAM, 16 GB internal storage and packs a 2300 mAh battery.

The build quality, fit and finish of the device is really good and feels really nice in hands. The power and volume keys are on the left side which makes it a bit difficult to use if you are familiar with power button on the right side.

The phone comes with a unibody design with non-removable back covers and the back panel houses the 13MP camera along with the flash unit. The camera unit has a slight projection and this might be concern if phone falls down on its back.

The 3.5mm audio jack sits at the bottom section along with the microphone. The SIM tray is placed on the right side and you need the ejector pin to remove the tray from the device.
