Nokia announced Lumia 720 at the Mobile World Congress (MWC 2013) this year. While Lumia 720 is a mid range phone, it comes with an excellent camera. Lumia 720 is a sleek and stylish Windows Phone 8 phone with a 4.3 inch Clear Black WVGA LCD, 2.25 D Glass, Super Sensitive Touch screen with 217ppi.
One of the important features of Lumia 720 is its camera. Lumia 720 has an incredible f/1.9 aperture — that’s bigger than almost any high-end smartphone out there. The camera is 6.7MP with 4x digital zoom and Carl Zeiss Tessar lens.

So today, we compare the Lumia 720 camera with Lumia 920, the best camera on a smartphone today.

Outdoor photos:
Outdoor photos came mixed, while some captures had Lumia 720 excel, others had Lumia 920 as winner. As we said in our review, some of the Lumia 920 daylight photos had an yellowish tint added to it. We aren’t really sure if it is our device problem.
In the above photo, Lumia 720 came with better color reproduction of tree leaves.

The flash of Lumia 920 is more powerful than Lumia 720 and this is visible from the above photo as the color reproduction was better for Lumia 920.
Close Up (Without Flash, daylight)
Nokia Lumia 920 came up with better clarity in case of close up shots. Lumia 720 photos were a bit blurred.

With low light inside the room, both camera performed almost equally and came up with good results.
Room with no light (Light from computer monitor, no flash)
With almost zero light or 10% light Lumia 920 came better, it was able to display the object while in Lumia 720 it wasn’t visible clearly.

Since the flash of Lumia 920 is more powerful, the color details are better captured.
Night view Outside (low light)
In the night view, although both cameras was able to capture it better than normal smartphone camera, the photos taken by Lumia 920 was slightly better in detail than 720.

Overall, while Lumia 920 camera is better than Lumia 720 especially in low light photography, the Lumia 720 comes with a great camera for its price. We don’t really think any Android phone has a camera close to Lumia 720 in the same price range.
So if you are on a tight budget and can’t afford the Lumia 920 for its excellent camera, Lumia 720 is the best choice.
