Over the past few years, we have seen how smartphones have evolved, starting with basic feature and now controlling and managing your digital life. It is not just smartphones which have changed in the recent past, watches have also come up with unique features and design. Initially features available in watches were limited to stopwatches, altitude, chronographs, temperature etc., but now we are seeing new technology which enables you to connect with your smartphones and get data from it.

Now, there are strong rumors that Apple is all set to launch a new iWatch and going by Apple’s standards it should be a revolutionary product. Meanwhile, Samsung has also announced that they are working on a smart watch. So overall, smart watch looks like an exciting product for 2013. In the meantime, if you want to buy a smart watch, here are the best options available now (some of them are still in product stages, but you can pre-order them).

1. Pebble Watch:

Pebble is probably one of the most discussed smart watches. Pebble was launched in Kickstarter and after successful funding they have started to deliver. Pebble connects to iPhone and Android smartphones using Bluetooth, alerting you with a silent vibration to incoming calls, emails and messages. Pebble can also be synced with IFTTT. Pebble works with iPhone 3GS, 4, 4S, 5 or any iPod Touch with iOS 5 or iOS 6. Android devices running OS 2.3 and up although it works great with Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich).

2. I’m Watch:

I’m Watch has a touchscreen that lets you read emails and texts, receive reminders about appointments and answer calls. It features i’music which is a music application that allows you to find, download and listen to your favorite music, choosing from over 6 million songs with a subscription plan. It also comes with i’market, where you can customize your watch as you like and add many new functions: leisure, games, office, useful apps, music.

3. Cookoo:

While Cookoo looks like a normal phone, you can pair your phone with the watch and get notifications from your smartphone. Cookoo watch has a beautifully designed analog watch face with easy to read icons to display the information you need anywhere, anytime. MetaWatch is a privately-held company focusing on reinventing the watch as a stylish and relevant mobile accessory. Meta Watch currently supports most Android phone with support for iOS coming soon. MetaWatch shows details like email, SMS, calls and also weather information synced from your smartphone. You need to install the MetaWatch app on your phone.

Martian Smart watch can connect with your phone using the Bluetooth and once paired you can use voice commands. You get a vibration when you receive a call on the phone and with a shake of the hand you can reject it. Martian works with the voice command on iPhone or Android and you get a vibration when you receive social media alerts.
