Review- Microsoft Arc Touch Mouse

Arc Touch Mouse is one of the premium hardware products from Microsoft. It is a wireless mouse and the company has come out with a unique design which makes it easy to carry and use especially for people who travel a lot. The Arc Touch Mouse is a fashion statement wrapped with a lot of interesting features which would definitely excite the geeks. We will review the mouse in detail and lets find our how use the Arc touch mouse is.

Installing and Setting Up:

Installing and setting up the mouse is one of the simplest tasks, just insert the two AAA batteries into the slot and fold the mouse into the shape of an arc. The blue light will come up indicating the mouse is on. Insert the USB receiver on to your Laptop or desktop USB drive and thats it! The mouse starts working instantly once Windows installs the drivers. You do not have to do any search for drivers.

Design and Looks:

Any one who sees the mouse for the first time would be stunned to see the design and no doubt its a unique design. The curvature on the Arc Touch Mouse is designed in such a way that the mouse is more comfortable to hold for longer periods of time.

The mouse has all the standard buttons including left and right click buttons and a unique touch based scrolling operation. The touch-sensitive scroll tab has vibration feedback and accelerated scrolling features. The curved portion on the top has a rubberized grip which makes it easy to use.

The bottom portion is also rubberised and has a magnetic strip to hold the USB receiver when you are not using it or when travelling. This way you will not misplace the tiny adaptor. When you fold it, it looks sleek and you can slide into your pocket just like your mobile phone.

Usage:

Now coming to the most important aspect, the usage. Having used a conventional mouse for long time, you might find the Arc Touch Mouse a bit uneasy initially, firstly due to its unique arc design and secondly due to the touch scroll section. But once you get used to the keys, using the mouse is very easy and you would love to use it.

The mouse is equipped with Microsoft’s BlueTrack technology which allows you to use the mouse on any surface, not just flat surfaces. You can use it on glossy, soft and hard surfaces and it would still give you the same effects.

Arc Touch Mouse supports accelerated scrolling, which means you can flick your finger down the tab to scroll more quickly through long documents and the vibrational feedback of the touch scroll is really innovative giving you the feedback that the mouse is responding.

There is not doubt that the Arc Touch mouse is indeed a great piece of hardware, but for common users who are used to working on wired mouse might feel a bit awkward with the use, moreover they would prefer the conventional mouse. Arc Touch mouse is helpful for people who travel a lot or can be also for geeks. The Arc touch mouse is priced at $54.99 and at this price, you can get a lot more in conventional mouse.
