Lets analyze Life Rocks 2.0 performance for 2008;

1. Site Traffic: First and foremost would be the performance in traffic.

January 2008:

• Average per day UVs-1700
• Monthly UVs- 52777
• Page Views- 94226
• Search Engine Traffic: 22% 

December 2008:

• Average UVs Per Day: 18000

The overall increase in traffic over the year is 10 times and this is definitely some thing to cheer considering the improvement in search engine traffic from 22% to 84%. 

2. Subscribers- We were less than 1000 subscribers when 2008 started and today we are around 3300 and this again is a decent improvement.

3. Earnings- Everyone would be interested in knowing how much is the earnings from this blog, but we cannot reveal any exact figures here. At the same time we can say that the income in December is 25 times the income we got in January 2008.

4. Few other stats:

• Number of posts published in 2008: Approx 1000
• Total number of Posts: 1400
• Total Comments: Approx 10000

Now coming to targets for 2009;

• Increase the per day UVs to 50000 (Currently 20000)
• Subscriber count of 10000
• Publish a minimum of 1200 posts
• Release a free Wordpress theme (it has been going around for long time)

Features of the new design include better readability and navigation and also a new comment layout. Another improvement over the previous theme is having a functional footer. We have also added a breadcrumb for better navigation in all pages. Featured tips, tricks and tutorials are shown above the footer in all the pages instead of home page alone. We have also designed a new favicon for this blog.

The theme has been tested on IE8, IE7, IE6, Firefox and Opera. If you find any bugs or alignment issues, please do write them in comments.

The above figure shows the traffic for the month of August 2008. The main traffic sources was search engines, which contributed to almost 77%, followed by social media and referral sites (17%) and direct referral at 6%. We published 97 posts in August and many of them were picked up by top blogs like Life Hacker and Download Squad. We also crossed 2000 subscribers in August.

Plans for next month- We are planning to move to VPS in 2-3 days time, in fact we have already done the purchase. Bluehost was able to support most of the high traffic with the help of cache plugin, still there were instances of downtime and CPU exceeded errors. Apart from this there are some plans for some changes which we will disclose at a later point of time.

The PR of Life Rocks has changed after a year, it was the same time during last year when this blog got a PR4, but then in the subsequent PR updates there was no change inspite of the fact that many of the top blogs lost their PR. I’m happy that this time Life Rocks has got a PR update.
