Printee for IE- Edit Web Pages Before Printing

Most of the time when we print web pages, unwanted advertisements and images are added to the print which will unnecessarily waste the printer resources. Printee is a Web Printing tool for Internet Explorer by which you can pick, edit and print web page only what you want. Printee allows you to customize the print by removing images, text, background, changing font, size and width etc, so that you do not print content which you do not want. Once installed, Printee can be enabled using the green button located in the commands tool bar.

Once enabled, Printee bring a toolbar on top of the web page where you have options to edit the webpage before printing, you can select text which you need in the final print, remove images and back ground. Once the print is customized, you can preview the changes before printing.

How to Save and Reopen Last Browsing Session in IE8

Internet Explorer 7 had a feature to open the last browsing session next time (the tabs open), while closing IE. The tabs would be saved and will be opened when you use IE7 next time. But with the release of Internet Explorer 8, this feature is not available when you close multiple tabs which are open in IE8. Even though this feature was removed, IE8 has a new feature where in you can reopen the last browsing session, but the only difference is that the tabs will not be automatically loaded when you open IE8.

You can restore last browsing session in Internet Explorer 8 in two ways.

1. Before closing IE8, you can save the current open tabs into favorites, so that next time you can open all the tabs from the favorites.

When you are using this option, you will need to open all the tabs individually from the favorite menu and this would be tedious if you have lots of tabs saved into favorites.

2. Second option is using the “Reopen Last Browsing Session” option in IE8. This feature can be used from the tools menu. After opening IE8, click on tools and select “Reopen Last Browsing Session” and this will restore your last browsing session.

You can also open the last session by clicking a new tab and inside the tab, you can see link for opening the last browsing session under Reopen Closed tabs.

Please note that IE8 will not open the last browsing session automatically when started, you will need to select the last browsing session.

If a Web Slice is available on a page, a green Web Slices icon will appear in the Command Bar, so that you can add the Web Slice to your favorite. How to Run IE8 Without Add-ons

Internet Explorer can be run without the add-ons installed. This is useful if you run into some kind of error after you installed any particular add-on. In Firefox, this mode is called as safe mode and a similar mode is available for IE. You can open Internet Explorer without add-ons in 2 ways. One way to open is to navigate to start menu-> All Programs-> Accessories-> System Tools-> Internet Explorer (no Add-ons). This opens up IE without ActiveX controls and browser extensions.

Second way is Win + R key which opens Run command, type iexplore –extoff and this will open up IE8 without add-ons.

Opening IE8 without add-ons will help you to find any issues encountered after the installation of any add-on.

Microsoft Announces Availability of Internet Explorer 8

Microsoft has announced the availability of final version of Internet Explorer (IE) 8 which includes lots of improvements and is also considered as one of the fastest browsers. It can be downloaded in 25 languages at IE8 website starting at noon EDT on March 19. Internet Explorer 8 is easier to use, faster and offers leading-edge security features in direct response to people’s increasing concerns about online safety.

“Customers have made clear what they want in a Web browser — safety, speed and greater ease of use,” said Steve Ballmer, CEO of Microsoft. “With Internet Explorer 8, we are delivering a browser that gets people to the information they need, fast, and provides protection that no other browser can match.”

IE8 Accelerator for Twitter

Internet Explorer 8 RC 1 has been released and its very much improved and faster than the beta version and is loaded with lots of features. One of the much talked about feature is the accelerators in IE8 and with Twitter accelerator for IE8, we have one more reason to use IE8. Accelerators allow you to select some text and search for it, map it or send it by email or to your blog. With Twitter accelerator, you can select some text and directly tweet it.

In order to use the accelerator, select the text from any website, Click on the arrow icon-> All Accelerators-> Send to Twitter.

This will open Twitter with the selected text and also the URL of the website from where the text is selected. This will enable you to tweet quickly news and articles directly from the webpage you are reading.

We found this pretty useful especially if you tweet articles from websites frequently.

Microsoft Releases Internet Explorer 8 RC1

Microsoft has released the Internet Explorer 8 Release Candidate 1 and is now available for download. The release candidate version of Internet Explorer is available for Windows XP, Vista and Server 2008. Many sites had already reported that IE8 RC would be available this week. Internet Explorer 8 RC1 is available for download in 25 languages.

What is new in IE8 RC1;

Platform Complete: The technical community should expect the final IE8 release to behave as the Release Candidate does. The IE8 product is effectively complete and done.
Reliability, Performance, and Compatibility improvements made from the feedback about the browser’s underlying quality and addressed many issues.
Security. Enable consumer-ready clickjacking protection. Sites can now protect themselves and their users from clickjacking attacks “out of the box,” without impacting compatibility or requiring browser add-ons.

Internet Explorer 8 Beta 2: Review and Features

From the world’s most preferred web browser, here comes the new release: Internet Explorer 8. If you use Internet Explorer extensively but miss some of the features which other popular web browsers have, then this new release might provide you the solution. If you’ve already booked tickets to upgrade or switch on it, I would suggest you to give some more thought to this initiative.

The new features are pretty much handy and are introduced taking up in mind the need of the contemporary users. Most of them are a mere change in name of features. Some new features include changes like recovery of tabs tabs and sessions that have been closed accidentally or if they are closed due to crashing of the process, similar to what Firefox and Opera already have. The search function now offers an auto suggestion feature, similar to Firefox but can also show images within the search, provided it’s supported by the search engine. As a user types in the address bar, a list of suggestions drops down with relevant web sites from the browsing history, Favorites and RSS feeds, with the browser searching both URLs and page titles. Particularly this incremental test search feature was long overdue.

IE8 offers IN-PRIVATE browsing which prevents browser cookies, history and form data from being saved just like Opera which already has this option. Google’s Chrome too comes with this very feature. Mozilla’s add-ons were the driving forces towards IE‘s Accelerators. IE8 also supports caret browsing, yet another feature Firefox comes bundled with! The list goes on..

The expectations are high and IE8 is already creating a stir in the air, let’s have a quick review about the enhancements and add-ons featured within the new browser.

Web Slices:

With the help of web slice, user can subscribe to a portion of a Web page. It helps you to keep a record of your favorite websites, blogs and even web pages. When you add a web slice, IE8 will automatically integrate it into the Favorites Bar and you can check them later on with a single mouse click!

When some new information is available, the Web Slice gets highlighted. A click on the Web Slice in the Favorites bar provides relevant information. Digg, MSN Headlines, StumbleUpon, Ebay, etc web slices are currently available to install.

Accelerators are a group of functions which are deployed as contextual menu options that can quickly access applications or Web services from any Web page. Users can install from a wide variety of Accelerators from the Internet Explorer 8 Activity Gallery or through any Web site that advertises them. Accelerators make it easier to copy information from one Web page to another. Currently there are a variety of Accelerators available including: Find on Facebook, Define on Encarta, Find on Ebay, Yahoo Local Maps, et al.
