Previously we had written about screenshot capture utility for Sony Ericsson phones, which had to be connected to Windows machine to capture screenshots. For Windows Mobile smartphone and pocket PCs, screenshots can be captured easily by installing free apps available for Windows Mobile. So here are few of the free applications for Windows Mobile for screenshot capture.

1. Capture Screen Utility: Capture Screen Utility is a useful utility for capturing screenshots and screenshots with displayed menu and supports QVGA and VGA screens. It can also capture screenshots with a delay.

2. SPB Screenshot: SPB ScreenShot is a tool to capture your screen on preset delay or with hardware button. This utility can also set the delay while capturing screenshot. It saves the screenshot in BMP or PNG format.

3. CapSure: This is anther free application for screen capture for Windows Mobile which captures in BMP, GIF, JPG, PNG formats. This app also allows you to add captions to screen captures. Apart from this, the utility also has built-in thumbnail viewer and image editor.

4. MyScreenCapture. The program allows you to capture the screen of the device and save it to the memory. This utility does not require any installation, just copy the exe file and run it directly from the phone.

Most of us nowadays own a blog and when it comes to high traffic load, we cannot actually say when the website/blog server goes down. Without a proper monitoring service, it would be difficult to check the uptime of the server and which in turn would end up losing visitors and revenue for the blog. There are lots of service offering website monitoring and the most popular of them is Pingdom. Pingdom is highly recommended, but then its not a free service. If you are looking for good free services, here is a list of 10 website monitoring services which are free.

1. Mon.itor.us: This is a free service offering 24X7 monitoring and email alerting when the site is down. They offer reports for uptime and response time. The user interface may look simplistic, but loaded with features.

2. Montastic: This service offers monitoring of up to 100 URLs from two servers with a span of 10 mins. They sent email alerts when the site is down and also when the site server is up.

3. Service Uptime: This service can monitor one URL for free with an interval of 30 min. They sent out email/SMS alerts on downtime. They have pretty good reports as well.

Life Rocks 2.0 Gets a Redesign

Life Rocks 2.0 has got a redesign after a gap of 10 months. The current theme was implemented in January 2008 and we thought it was time for a change. The new theme is an extended version of the current theme and optimized for faster loading. The current theme does not use any Javascript and also has lesser number of images.

Features of the new design include better readability and navigation and also a new comment layout. Another improvement over the previous theme is having a functional footer. We have also added a breadcrumb for better navigation in all pages. Featured tips, tricks and tutorials are shown above the footer in all the pages instead of home page alone. We have also designed a new favicon for this blog.

The theme has been tested on IE8, IE7, IE6, Firefox and Opera. If you find any bugs or alignment issues, please do write them in comments.
