How Many Websites are Available on the Internet?

We all use the World Wide Web (WWW) for variety of purposes, but ever wondered how many websites are available across the world on the Internet? According to the latest survey report (November 2011) from Netcraft, there are 525,998,433 websites, giving a rise of 22 million (+4.3%) since October 2011. The year 2011 was an exceptional growth year for internet as the number of websites virtually double in 2011 as per the data (shown below)

But not all the websites from this huge list are active. And also this number does not mean the number of domains available since many of these websites are hosted on subdomains like Google’s blogspot or WordPress.
