Duplicate files are always an issue as it occupies unwanted space on your hard drive. WeeDuplicateDetective is a freeware tool for Windows which lets you find duplicate files across one of multiple folders you specify. You can set the program to identify duplicates by their name, size and file date as well as by checksum comparison (MD5/SHA-1/SHA256). The tool will scan the selected folders and display the list of all duplicates found, organized in groups.
To select the files that you want to remove, the program offers several auto-select options that lets you check the files based on the file date and also based on custom search patterns to match a string in the file name or path.
The tool presents you with advanced options not available in general duplicate removers. The app allows you to delete duplicate files, send them to the recycle bin or move them to a different folder.
Although the user interface of the app is a bit confusing, it does the job pretty neatly.
