Windows has a idle mode which still performs various actions on your PC even though you are not using the PC. System Silencer is a very handy, useful and freeware tool designed to enable you to easily customize the way your computer reacts when it’s idle i.e. when you have not used your mouse and keyboard for some time. Run System Silencer and when you’re away your computer’s monitor can turn itself off, the sound will be muted and you can even choose to hide your taskbar and desktop icons.
