Whenever a new version of WordPress is released, we have seen a new feature also being added. Back in July WordPress had asked users to vote for media features which they would like to see in version 2.9 and basic image editor was one of the features available for voting. Now it seems that this feature might come up in the next major release. WPEngineer has posted few screenshots of image editor for WordPress 2.9 which is under development.

As the image suggests, the image editor is very basic and allows you to crop, rotate and scale images without the use of any plugins.

We are not sure whether this feature has been finalised for Version 2.9 as it is still under development. What is your view on this feature of WordPress, is this going to be a useful feature or plugins can do this job better? Share your thoughts in the comments section.
