Mozilla has announced the availability of a mobile version of Firefox named Fennec for Windows Mobile. This is an alpha version which means it is still in development. This initial version is targeted for HTC Touch PRO and users are invited to download and test this version. More phones would be added in future releases. The memory management module of Firefox is ported to the Windows Mobile version of Fennec.
Fennec’s user interface controls have been rebuilt to be entirely CSS based. This will allows for more easy adjust to UI for various screen sizes and resolutions in the future. Its also demonstrates how web technologies can be used to create compelling user interfaces. The look and feel will undergo changes as the development progresses.
The release also supports Add-ons with a gestures module already being made available. Here is a video demo of Fennec.
This version can be downloaded from here. Thanks to WMPower User for this information.
