Windows7 RC is now official, Microsoft has announced the availability of Windows 7 Release Candidate (RC). We had previously written that RC was expected to release this week. Although the RC is officially announced, it would be available only to TechNet and MSDN users and the general public would be able to download it on May 5th.
Windows 7 RC ships in with many changes and bug fixes since the beta version was released back in Jan 2009. This RC version of Windows 7 comes in 64 bit and 32 bit versions. Windows 7 RC will expire on March 1, 2010 and after this time the system will reboot every two hours. The license of windows 7 RC will expire June 1, 2010.
If you are using Windows Vista, you can upgrade to Windows 7 RC version. The Windows 7 beta users will need to do a fresh install and also the license keys of beta version will not work with RC.
The public release of RC will be available on May 5th and can be downloaded from Microsoft downloads.

Hey Nirmal,
Is the free public download only for Windows Vista?
Yeah!
I’m really surprised by Windows 7. It’s a stable and fast OS.
The only thing I don’t like is, that you can’t upgrade from the beta to the RC =/

Windows 7 is the best OS coming from MS so far. It runs my no-name (everex) laptop faster than my friends macbook!
