Do not let your guards down! I bought Kaspersky in 9/2009. In a month or two, it did not detect viruses twice already - Malewarebytes did. No, I am not selling Malewarebytes :-)
And do not belive those who state that all virus software, by its nature, has to be slow. I used to run McAfee and Zonealarm and had no "100% CPU usage" problems (like I do at this moment)

I too have Kaspersky AV 8.0.0.1081 on Windows 7. I'm not running a multi-core CPU, but you'd think that a system with a P4 2.66 GHz CPU and 2GB of RAM would be enough to keep AVP.exe from eating at my CPU usage. I'm holding around 80% to 100% while running AVP. Without it, I'm at 2-12%. Apps take a little longer to load, web pages also lag a moment longer, but overall It does its job. It's also sucking about 250 MB of my physical memory usage. According to the closed post on Kaspersky AVs forum, " ...it's a beta, so such things are to be expected". You'd think a drastic thing like excessive CPU usage would be noted for an application that uses the quote: "The unique product architecture ensures high productivity and one of the lowest uses of system resources in the industry." Just my personal opinion.

I am using it now for a couple of days.
System keeps it's speed, only CPU gets rather high at times, as usually with Kaspersky.
But overall I find the whole system together, windows 7 and Kaspersky a great improvement on the NTFS platform.
And believe me, I torment my systems, the way testing should be.

Kaspersky making an efficient (read NOT SLOW) AV? I have my doubts.

Great detection sure, but Kaspersky has always been a let down speed and compatibility wise.
