Omnia has 3.2-inch Wide QVGA touch screen, which supports 240 x 400 pixels and fully packed with features. The phone comes with a huge 16GB memory similar to the iPhone and on top of that, you also have the option of using a microSD card for increasing the memory further. Then, there is the quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE support, combined with HSDPA 7.2Mbps. Omnia also features built-in accelerometer, which allows the UI to rotate automatically and follow the handset’s current orientation.

With Omnia you get Windows Live pre-installed and also get Push Hotmail. Omnia  comes with Outlook and a fully functional Office Suite on the device, so that you can access, read, edit word documents, excel worksheets, power points.

Here is the technical specification of Omnia;

  • Network: quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE + HSDPA 7.2Mbps
  • Dimension: 112 x 56.9 x 12.5 mm, Weight: 127g
  • Wireless: stereo Bluetooth (A2DP), WiFi
  • Display: 3.2-inch WQVGA (240×400 pixels) touch screen
  • Camera: 5 megapixels with auto-focus, featuring face and smile detection as well as auto-panorama shots
  • OS/UI: Windows Mobile 6.1 with Samsung’s widget-friendly TouchWiz user interface running on top of it
  • CPU: Marvell 624MHz
  • Other: built-in GPS, accelerometer for auto-rotation, optical mouse
  • Two models will be sold: 8GB and 16GB, that can further be expanded with microSD memory cards

Omnia should be a great phone to own and use, but we are not sure about the price. Omnia could definitely give iPhone a competition especially for the fact that iPhone is over priced in India. If you are planning to buy a touch screen smart phone, Sony Ericsson’s XPERIA is also in the way and is expected in India by October which features a full fledged QWERTY key pad as well.

Update: Price of Omnia-24GB for 37,999 and 32GB 39,999.
