The much awaited prices of iPhone has been officially announced by Vodafone today. There is no surprises as far as the prices are concerned. The iPhone 3G is available in 8GB and 16GB at Rs 31,000 and Rs 36,100 respectively. It will be available on August 22 on first come, first serve basis as there is only limited stock.

iPhone

There is no mention on 3G network availability on iPhone although iPhone 3G will be sold in India. If you had pre-registered with Vodafone, then there are chances that you might get if before others. All you need to do is drop in at a select Vodafone Store between August 20 and 21 and confirm your booking by paying Rs 10000. Also you will need to show the iPhone booking SMS, which was sent by Vodafone. We are not sure how many people who pre-booked it still has the SMS.

There is no mention on the pre-paid or post paid plans. Vodafone website says that if you are en existing customer, you can book your iPhone directly, so it means it can be used with existing SIM card.

With this high price tag, one thing is pretty much clear, the 3G iPhone was never cheap. In countries where it was available for $199, the remaining price would be recovered from call rates and data plans.

So will you be still getting the iPhone? Is this the cheaper iPhone 3G you’ve been waiting for?

31 K is too much to pay for the iPhone. Lets wait and see if the price comes down in the next few months.

No, but they rock in Indian markets, not the genuine ones, but unlocked ones…

Really 30+K is too much for an iphone. I guess they are just trying to capitalize on the initial hype which will make most to buy at any price! This is evident on pre-booking and other strategies they are adopting. I guess the price will come down soon if everyone thinks this way and not much iphone being sold! I will definitely not buy at this price. This really is way too high!

Yes, Nirmal. Airtel has also announced the same prices. Apple products have never been cheap and I guess they never will be.
