Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, which is to be held from August 8-24 2008, will be available on YouTube for 77 territories where digital rights have not been sold, or have been acquired on a non-exclusive basis. This was conveyed by International Olympic Committee.

The package will be primarily to Africa, Asia and the Middle East and will include highlights, news and daily clips of the competitions. Internet users outside the 77 territories will blocked from seeing the clips through a technology called “geo-blocking.”

A new channel in YouTube is dedicated to Olympic events.

    These will not be available for people in countries where there is already TV rights
